A partner to explore care leaver’s experiences of violence and/or exploitation, and to understand the risk and protective factors associated with this. Plan .   Summary We are looking to appoint a partner to explore care leaver’s experiences of violence and/or exploitation, and to understand the risk and protective factors associated with this. The research will be based on three overarching research questions: 1. How, and to what extent, do young people experience violence after leaving care? 2. What risk and protective factors to violence are associated with transitioning out of care? 3. What support is available locally to care leavers to mitigate the risk of experiencing violence, and what is best practice going forward? The research will include: • A literature review focussing on care leaver’s experience of violence and the risk and protective factors associated with it • An overview of the current policies and statutory guidance affecting care experienced young people • An assessment of existing support and provision available to care leavers, identifying best practice • Engagement with a diverse cohort of young people who have left care along with professionals who provide a service to care leavers in each local authority • An exploration of specific differences between provision delivered by local authorities, with a focus on best practice, and area-specific challenges • An overview of the current picture of care leavers in West Yorkshire including; o Demographic information, o Education & employment status, o Accommodation type, o Reasons for coming into care and, o Any other relevant details
